  1. Does the pear not get brown like an apple will?

  2. I usually slice up fruit like pears and apples morning-of - and we're out the door for preschool dropoff half an hour later, usually. So if the pear does brown, it's not too much; it only has about 3 hours in a closed case between cutting to eating. In any case, I haven't heard my preschooler mention the browning (aka oxidizing) for either her packed pears or apples, so I'll carry on until she does. :)

  3. Wow, I'm so happy to have found you! I have the tiniest NYC kitchen ever, so cooking meals for myself to bring to work every day is a major pain. But I do have a cute little bento box I've never used, and I have a feeling you're going to provide major inspiration for it.

Also, a little lemon juice squeezed onto the fruit will keep it from browning, right?

  4. Welcome, Katie! Hope that you continue to find useful stuff around here. :)

I've also heard that citrus like lemon juices can prevent browning, so definitely go for it if you're looking for optimum presentation with sliced fruits that would otherwise oxidize.
